Mentorship Homework
Your homework for this mentorship is meant to get the wheels turning and create an opportunity for you to plan, organize, and reflect. You are welcome to approach the homework however you’d like, but I recommend you work through the assignments after that week’s live call. For instance, check out Week #1 Homework after our live session on Week #1. We’ll go over the homework assignments together as a group.
Mentorship Manual
You can access the mentorship manual whenever you’d like. We won’t necessarily go through the manual as a group. The intention is to give you things to consider and provide you with supplemental support.
Pre-Mentorship Homework
Lead yourself through a 20-30 minute practice - or longer if you’d like!
Reflect/Journal:
What kind of shapes did you move through?
What was the general tone and tempo of your practice?
Is this the style of class you’d most like to lead? Why/why not?
Week #1 Homework
Select a concept or two to feature in a drop-in class. Create a sequence using the sequencing template featuring your concepts.
Using the same concept(s) from above, plan out how you’ll expand upon your drop-in classes over 4 and 8 weeks. What shapes will you add? What additional concepts will you highlight?
Consider the following shapes and how you’d use oppositional verbal cues to support your students in the shapes:
Downward Facing Dog
Warrior II
Bow Pose
Week #2 Homework
Take your initial concept(s) from the Week #1 Homework and consider how you’d expand upon those concepts in a 2-hour workshop and a 4-part series. Create a description for each. How will you structure your workshop/series?
Reflect/Journal: What excites you about teaching? Where are you finding blind spots in your teaching?
Week #3 Homework
Film yourself teaching a 30-45 minute practice. Don’t get too caught up in the technology. Upload the file to YouTube (or site of your choice) and make the video private. Send the link to hello@erinjorich.com.
Reflect/Journal: Where do you feel stuck when creating online content? What excites you about creating online content?
Reflect/Journal: What do you hope your students take away from every class with you? What overarching physical, mental, and spiritual/emotional information do you hope to convey in every practice?
